TWO ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED THEFT OF CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
On Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, the Louisiana State Police and Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) made contact with suspicious subjects near an abandoned/stranded vehicle on LA-1 north of Marksville, Louisiana.
Further investigation revealed 41-year-old Jervis Tramaine Bazile of Cottonport, LA and 35-year-old Jason Kelly of Marksville, LA had tools and equipment (floor jack, cordless reciprocating saw, mechanic’s creeper, etc.…) and were preparing to remove the catalytic converter(s) from the vehicle.
They were arrested by APSO Deputies for the offense of Attempted Theft. Bazile was also arrested on a 12th Judicial District Court Arrest Warrant for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Both were booked into the APSO DC-1 Jail Facility in Marksville, LA. Bazile’s Bond was set at $8,500.00, and Kelly’s bond was set at $2,500.00. Kelly bonded out on December 29, 2021. Bazile remains in custody.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat wants the people of Avoyelles to know that we remain vigilant in stopping catalytic converter thefts and arresting the perpetrators. We are proactively patrolling the Parish in an effort to protect your property and stop crimes like this. Crimes such as this often require the assistance of concerned citizens, community partners, witnesses and victims willing to come forward.
