TWO ARRESTED FOR THEFT OF ATV AND DIRT BIKE

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at approximately 0137 hours, Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) Patrol Deputies and the Simmesport Police Department Patrolmen responded to a report of a motor vehicle theft at a residence on Old Louisiana Highway 1, Simmesport, Louisiana.  APSO Detectives responded shortly thereafter.

Further investigation revealed that moments earlier 18-year-old Deaundra Draquan Johnson and 18-year-old Deandre Omarion Castle had stolen a 4-wheeler (ATV) and a Dirt Bike from two separate residences in the Simmesport area.  Both vehicles were recovered and returned to the owners.

Both were arrested by APSO Deputies for the offenses of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Conspiracy.  On January 31, 2022, Johnson was arrested again for the same charges (for a total of two counts of each offense).  Castle was arrested for one count of each offense.  More arrests are expected.  Both were booked into the APSO DC-1 Jail Facility in Marksville, LA.  Johnson’s Bond was set at $50,000.00 for his first arrest and $50,000.00 again for his second arrest (Total of $100,000.00), and Castle’s bond was set at $50,000.00.  Both subjects bonded out the same day they were arrested.

Sheriff David L. Dauzat wants to thank the Deputies, Detectives and the Simmesport Police Department for their swift response and great team work.  He also wants the people of Avoyelles to know that we remain vigilant in stopping these types of thefts and arresting the perpetrators.  We are proactively patrolling the Parish and working with our law enforcement partners in an effort to protect your property and stop crimes like this.  If anyone has information about thefts, burglaries or any other crime in Avoyelles, please contact the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-253-4000.
