VEHICLE BURGLARIES – UPDATE
After months of investigating several vehicle burglaries, on June 2, 2022, the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) arrested a 17-year-old juvenile subject involved in vehicle burglaries in the Hessmer and Mansura areas. Through our investigation, we have identified approximately 16 residences in these areas where these perpetrators attempted to burglarize or successfully burglarized unlocked vehicles. We have made contact with all of the victims. APSO Detectives are also assisting the Hessmer Police Department with 2 residences in that town that we learned may have been victimized by these perpetrators.
So far, the juvenile was arrested for the offenses of Simple Burglary. The investigations are ongoing, and we are attempting to identify several more subjects involved. As the investigations move along, more arrests will be forthcoming.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat wants you to know that we are working hard behind the scenes and asks anyone that has information about thefts, burglaries, or any other crime in Avoyelles, to please contact the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-253-4000.
