12/02/2021 Multi-Agency Narcotics Operation Roundup

This week, numerous individuals were arrested for various drug charges stemming from an extensive narcotics investigation in Avoyelles that began in 2020.  Twenty-five (25) were arrested on arrest warrants issued by 12th Judicial District Court in Avoyelles Parish.  One (1) additional individual was arrested in Rapides Parish on arrest warrants issued by 9th Judicial District Court in Rapides Parish.  Twenty-six (26) total arrests were made.

Due to the increase of overdose deaths in Avoyelles Parish, the Louisiana State Police, Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, and other local law enforcement Agencies intensified the investigation of illegal drug activity in Avoyelles Parish.  Based on the developments of the investigations and its large-scale nature, multiple local, state, and federal Agencies joined in to assist.

This Multi-Agency Operation culminated on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, FBI, LSP and several other law enforcement Agencies began executing numerous arrest warrants throughout Avoyelles Parish.  The Agencies participating in the roundup operation were the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bunkie Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, FBI, Louisiana Army National Guard, Louisiana Probation and Parole, LSP, Marksville Police Department, Plaucheville Police Department, Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (R.A.D.E.), Tunica Biloxi Tribal Police Department, and United States Marshals Service.  (R.A.D.E. consists of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pineville Police Department, and Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office).

Due to the Multi-Agency Operation conducted in Avoyelles Parish, and the effort put forth from all involved, this operation resulted in the following:

  • 26 arrests; a vast majority for distribution of narcotics (Felonies).
  • The seizure of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl.
  • The recovery of two illegally possessed firearms by a convicted felon.
  • The seizure of nearly $5,000.00 in drug related currency.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

 

Sheriff David L. Dauzat remains committed to working alongside our public safety partners to make Avoyelles Parish a safer place to live, work and play. He would also like to thank the team of dedicated professional Law Enforcement Agents that worked together to apprehend these offenders, and safely remove them from the streets of our Parish.
