REMINDER : Statewide Burn Ban

REMINDER…. Statewide Burn Ban

According to the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, a statewide burn ban has been issued effective at 5 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2023, and shall remain in effect until rescinded.

Officials said the burn ban applies to all “private” burning unless it is approved by a local fire department or government.
The burn ban does not impact the use of barbeque grills, fire pits, and small campfires for brief, recreational cooking purposes. Those kinds of fires are allowed.

Violations of the Fire Marshal’s order could result in criminal and/or civil penalties.

The burn ban is in response to extremely dry conditions statewide and concern over first responder safety in these dangerously high temperatures.
